Studio(s): Denham Studios
Denham Studios was the base for this British classic. The station refreshment room was built on a soundstage.
The train station exteriors were shot at Carnforth Station in Lancashire, between 10pm and 6am so as to not disrupt train services. As well as having the right combination of busy lines crossing through it, the station was far enough away from wartime London that blackout regulations were not enforced, and the film lights could safely be used.
The station still retains many of the period features present in 1945, and is a place of pilgrimage for fans of the movie.
The small town exteriors were shot around the Denham area, near the film studio.
