Young Sherlock Holmes is a landmark in the history of visual effects as it features the first completely CGI (Computer-Generated-Imagery) character in movie history. The stained-glass window Knight (known as The Glass Man in the credits) was animated by Industrial Light and Magic over a period of four months, and was overseen by computer animation pioneer John Lasseter, who went on to be the driving force behind Pixar's success.
