This stage was formerly the home of the Special Effects Stages attraction on the Lower Lot.
In 2010 the stage was demolished to make room for Transformers: The Ride.
1995 Fire
FROM LA TIMES – NOVEMBER 1 1995:
A small fire at Universal Studios on Tuesday morning [31 October 1995] prompted firefighters to shut down four sound stages at the entertainment complex, a Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman said.
Firefighter Larry Duran said the fire started about 9 a.m. near the “Cinemagic” portion of the Universal Studios tour. The fire was doused in about 20 minutes but not before ripping through a wall on Sound Stage No. 32.
Duran said no one was injured. The amount of damage was not disclosed.
The cause was under investigation.

The Boo Radley house was designed by Henry Bumstead and built at Universal, while all other houses were moved to the backlot from Chaves Ravine, where developers were clearing the land for the Dodgers Stadium. Brownstone Street and New York Street feature as Old Chicago. The theater on the south side of New York Street featured as the exterior of the Burlesque Theater, and an elevated rail track was built to run above the street. The Paris Opera House sets on Stage 28 were used for the theater interior scenes. Stage 12, Stage 22, Stage 23, Stage 24, Stage 27 and Stage 32 were also used. |
