Steiner Studios opened in 2004 at the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard, and was the first Hollywood-style production facility in New York.

At the time of writing, Steiner Studios do not offer public studio tours.

Brooklyn Navy Yard founded. It became America’s premier shipbuilding facility.

2004
November: Steiner Studios is opened on a 15 acre site at the historic Brooklyn Navy Yard. The 305,000 square foot facility is the first Hollywood-style production facility in New York.
The first production at the studios was The Producers.

This was the first major project at the new Steiner Studios in Brooklyn, which was being finished during the production period, and still had a leaky roof. The movie crew made suggestions such as enlarging the make-up facilities, which the construction crew were able to act on.
