The basic facades of the streets of Little Europe can easily be redressed and supplemented to transform the street into any location around the world. Street signs, lamposts and other street furniture can suggest any time or place to the audience.
The cobblestones under foot are actually pressed cement, and are permanent, but can be covered up with sand / dirt for other time periods.
The current sets were built in 1967 as replicas of the old sets, following the devastating fire in that year which destroyed the whole area, including part of Spartacus Square.
There are a number of smaller areas adjacent to the main Little Europe sets – see the photo galleries below for information.
The Spartacus Square sets were removed in 2013.

Eastern Area Photo Gallery
This is the area immediately behind the Court of Miracles and has been used as India in Heroes, as well as for the final sequence in Jarhead.
As this area is not visible from the tram, these photos were taken on the VIP Experience tour.
Pirates of the Caribbean Alley Photo Gallery
This area is hidden from the main Studio Tour tram. The sets were modified here for Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, where they appear as the exterior of Wil’s workshop.

Many of the exteriors of the village were shot on the Little Europe sets at Universal, including the Court of Miracles {The townspeople of Goldstadt celebrated the wedding of Henry Frankenstein to Elizabeth in this square. ). However, they're not the same sets that can be seen today - all of todays Little Europe was built in 1967 after a huge fire destroyed the vintage sets.
Many scenes that look like exteriors were shot on soundstages (there are some unfortunate ripples of backcloths which give away the interior shooting, and footsteps that sound like wooden staging not outdoor rocks and mud). The highly theatrical backdrops with dramatic skies helped to set the atmosphere of exaggerated reality.
