Andy Griffith plays Ben Matlock, criminal defense attorney in this NBC/ABC legal drama set in Atlanta, Georgia. He's worth every cent of his $100,000 fee, as he and his associates defend his clients by getting to the bottom of the case and finding the real culprit.
Over the programme's run of 195 episodes, the supporting cast (who assisted Ben in his investigations) varied a great deal.

Matlock's house can still be seen on Colonial Street to this day - it's currently appearing in Desperate Housewives. A large portion of the show was shot in and around Wilmington, North Carolina and studios there were sometimes used.
